It is believe that Nancy L Ridling was the first person buried here. She was the daughter of Moses Lemuel Ridling. According to a family Bible owned by Janice Watkins Kelley, in 1983, the Wadkins and Watkins are relatives. Some changed their name to Watkins. It is believed that the first person buried here was a woman who died from burns received when her husband put her into a fire. The one acre plot joins the Vandervoort, Arkansas city limits on the Northeast. The first person buried here is not known. In 1896, when the Kansas City Southern Railroad was being built through what is now Vandervoort, a construction worker’s child died, while they were camped on the job, and is buried in Cecil Cemetery.
