The photo is of the Clark Livery Stable that was located in either Black
Rock or Imboden Arkansas at the
turn of the century. The reason I do not know which town it was in is
because my father says Imboden but my grandma took me to Black Rock about
two weeks ago and showed me the house our Clark family lived in during the
same period of time and that was in Black Rock. This house is going to be
restored and used as some kind of historical place. It is a large white
house on a hill and kind of prominent in such a small town.
This photo almost definitely came from the possessions of my great-great-great uncle Will Clark (b. 29 Oct 1874 in Shelby County, TN d. unknown). I descend from his sister Clara Bertha or Bertha Clara Clark Haulcroft (3 Oct 1875- 31 Oct 1938). Will and his brothers John Edward Clark and James Cleveland Clark were all merchants/store owners at one time in this area as well as runners of this stable. I have no info on the dates of death for Will or his wife Nellie (my grandma is named for her), John, or James. I am assuming all died after 1941 as that is when the mother of Clara Bertha, Will, James, and John died and the dated family bible stops. Hoping someone out there connects or enjoys the photo just the same! Andrea Thompson @ 2002-2004 |
