My grandmother wrote on the back of this photo:  From Left to Right in buggy are Ray, Grandpa Mason, Elizabeth Ann Caywood.  Then next is John Reuben (son of Mason).  Then Joe and Susan Shepherd – then Frances (was a Shepherd) & William Caywood.  This was the land the Caywoods bought in Central Kansas – bought it from the Santa Fe R.R. for 50¢ per acre.  It had never been farmed.  The trees were all planted by the Caywoods.  A few Indians were still around when the Caywoods first settled in Kansas.
