Cawood Castle and Gatehouse

This is all that remains of the castle walls.

From the outside looking in (although there is no longer anything to be "in").

The door on the right is original, the left one a reproduction.

The stone spiral staircase in the gatehouse.

Notice how worn the stone is atop the window.  Sad.

These carvings are in excellent shape, being protected from the weather.

What is this?  Some kind of bat?
